Dr. Dr. Dinesha H. A. M.Tech,Ph.D.,MISTE

HOD

The Computer Science Engineering Department was started in the year 2008 and now conducts one undergraduate program and Ph.D program with affiliation to VTU. The department is striving hard to make the unique spirit of SGBIT, an Institution with a difference by promoting excellence in Teaching, Research and Services covering the fundamentals as well as applied aspects of Computer Science and IT. A total of 11 experienced faculty members, support four core specializations .Being a forerunner in the field of technology, the department envisages evolving as a center of excellence to adapt itself to the rapid advancements in various specialized fields. Computer Science and Engineering continues to be the driving force of the nation's economy in the fields of science and technology. We in the CSE department, at SGBIt, are very excited to be part of this information revolution.

UG students are encouraged to take up interdisciplinary research in various domains and students are placed in reputed companies like IBM, TCS, Infosys, Robert Bosch, Mind Tree. The programs offered by the department are the most sought after ones by Common Entrance Test (conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority) top rank holders and other aspirants from across the country. All the three programs are outcome based, structured to meet the needs of Industry and Research. The program contents are upgraded with the involvement of industry and reputed research institutions.

Why Computer Science in SGBIT..?

 We work closely with industry to design computer science degrees that help you develop the skills most in demand with graduate employers. Our internationally renowned research centres mean you study at the cutting edge of the discipline. Specialise in an area of computer science like game engineering or build your own broad-based degree, choosing topics that match your interests from across our specialisms. Enhance your experience with a paid year in industry or a year abroad
The most important aspect of computer science is problem solving, an essential skill for life. Students study the design, development and analysis of software and hardware used to solve problems in a variety of business, scientific and social contexts. Because computers solve problems to serve people, there is a significant human side to computer science as well..

What will I experience..?

✔We provide more technical training by conducting workshops and seminars which makes students to expose practically and apply their knowledge in solving engineering problems.
The programs we conduct will make you ready to compute with fast growing competitive world. The state of art curriculum promotes independent thinking and learning at an individual's pace.

The scope of Computer Science Engineers ..?

Computer science programs typically centers primarily around theory and software, with only some hardware. upper division courses tend to allow a lot of freedom to specialize in software and theory related areas (e.g. algorithms, artificial intelligence, cryptography/security, graphics/visualization, numerical and symbolic computing, operating systems/distributed processing, software engineering).
Computer engineering programs tend to resemble computer science at the lower division with similar introductory programming and math courses, but diverges from computer science at the upper division with heavy electrical engineering requirements (e.g. digital and analog circuits, integrated circuit design, VLSI design and control systems). Despite the overlap with computer science at the lower division level, computer engineering skews much more heavily toward the electronics side that it has more in common with electrical engineering.
Computer Science and Engineering integrates all of the above and is intended to develop a solid understanding of the entire machine (computer hardware and software). The higher unit count required to complete the program often means that a CSE student will need to spend an extra year in university.
