Why Electronics & Communication in SGBIT..?
The ECE department at SGBIT runs an undergraduate program with an intake of 120 seats. The program is currently approved by AICTE and affiliated to VTU, Belgaum. The program is already pre-qualified for NBA and in the near future, it will obtain the NBA certification. The ECE department is focused towards the growth and technology trends with well-furnished laboratories. Since its inception, the ECE department at SGBIT has taken the lead in initiating Ph.D programs and Research and Development as well as establishing well-equipped and modern Lab facilities at SGBIT. The ECE department at SGBIT has well-qualified and experienced faculty with a healthy student to staff ratio of 1:20. Among the faculty, five have the Doctorate degree, nine are pursuing the Ph.D degree, and the remaining are Post-Graduates with M.Tech degree. Faculty members have to their credit many technical papers publications in reputed international and national journals, and conferences. They are also members of several important academic bodies such as, IEEE, IETE and ISTE. The department is well equipped with Lab Facilities such as Cadence for VLSI Lab, Xilinx for HDL Lab, Matlab & Code Composer Studio for DSP & Microcontroller Lab with a total of approximately 100 work stations. The communication lab is equipped with Microwave test bench & Micro strip antenna. Each Lab is appropriately spacious with sufficient lab equipments and Display items such as Charts & Major equipments list. The Department Library is well furnished with prescribed text books and reference books with a volume of approximately 117 books. The library also provides various E-resource facilities. The ECE Department has an excellent infrastructure that includes six classrooms and a Seminar hall equipped with Projectors. The department also has a strong student mentoring process, a student project laboratory, well maintained rest rooms for girls and boys, facility signboards, suggestion boxes and purified drinking water facility.

The scope of Electronics Engineers ..?
The branch of Electronics and Communication Engineering is concerned with the design, development, manufacture and application of electronic devices, circuits and systems. The ECE curriculum lays greater emphasis on deep understanding of fundamental principles and state of the art knowledge regarding Electronic Devices and Circuits, Computer Architecture and Microprocessors, VLSI and Embedded systems, Electromagnetic Field Theory, Analog and Digital Communication, Digital Signal Processing, Microwave, Wireless and Fiber Communications. In effect, the ECE curriculum provides a wide perspective of the field of Electronics and Communication, and allows the student to decide his/her future directions in various domains. The ECE graduated students are qualified for employment in many extensive areas and can work as Circuit Designer, Circuit testing Engineer, Network Engineer, Communication Engineer, Signal Analyst, Signal Tester, MEMS Designer, Automation Engineer, Automotive Engineer, Robotics Engineer, Chip Designer, Software and Hardware Engineer. The ECE graduated students are also absorbed in many entertainment transmission industry, research establishments and defense. The students from the ECE branch can also decide to pursue post-graduate studies in many reputed Indian Universities or abroad, showing their ability to continue research in diverse areas. Lastly, in the current age of multi-discipline, the ECE graduated students can also diverge into related fields such as computer engineering, thereby venturing into other streams of engineering.
